Z v R [2005] NSWSC 1344

Court: Supreme Court of NSW
Issues: Sentencing
We acted for a client who was initially charged with murder and possession of a fire arm. We were able to negotiate with the Police and have the charge reduced to Manslaugter. We also convinced court that our client was suffering from a depressive illness. The judge agreed with us and found special circumstances in her case and took those into account when sentencing our client. Ultimately our client received a total sentence of eight years and she was eligible for parole after four and a half years.
